At about 11:30 a.m., school boards received a notice from Ontario’s Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) that the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) taking place today was cancelled.
Schools had been coping with technical issues since they began the test this morning. Students had difficulty accessing the test in many cases. This was not a technical issue at our school board level—it was at EQAO. This was not something we could fix ourselves.
We are waiting for more information from EQAO about what this issue will mean for students. Obviously this situation is frustrating—we are all very disappointed.
Our staff and students worked very hard to prepare for the test. They showed incredible resilience as they persevered through the challenges today.
Our schools will share information with students and parents once we know more.
More information about the test and our original plans for the day is available in our media release.
