The Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) will be completed online in 2016-17. The test will be administered twice because of the move to the online format. Students will write the test at school on school computers.

Simcoe County District School Board students who started Grade 9 in September 2015 may be eligible to write the test next school year.

The first test date is Oct. 20, 2016. Students who are successful on the Oct. 20 test will have met the graduation requirement. Students who are not successful in October can write the test again on March 30, 2017. The October test will not count as a failed attempt.

In October 2016, the test will be the online format only. In March 2017, the test will be available both online and in paper format.

A sample test is available for students to preview and practice. Further details about the October test day will be shared in the fall.

The OSSLT is a graduation requirement managed by Ontario’s Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO). Test dates are set by EQAO.

More information about the OSSLT is available on EQAO’s website: www.eqao.com.
